Anger Management for Children
Much of the therapeutic work with pediatric cancer patients is directed toward feelings of pain, anger, anxiety, fear, loss of control, and diminished self-esteem. Similarly, children living in inner city environments filled with drugs, violence and chaos, experience similar feelings. In recognition of this need,Kids Kicking Cancer recently developed an anger management program for children who experience chronic conflict in their school environments and face a substantial risk of violence and substance abuse. By introducing these children to our students with cancer, we allow both groups to be inspired and in turn, inspire each other. This is a theme we call “The Heroes Circle”. The program, which is taught during school hours has had a dramatic impact on the lives of these inner city children.
